Volunteerism empowers our students with the skills to maximize their potential. Alice West and Leslie Heilbronner’s classes have been working hard to contribute to their volunteer sites, the YMCA-Coastal Bend and Corpus Christi Food Bank.

Have you met our wonderful teacher Laura De La Rosa and paraprofessional Tina Vieyra? Together, they lead our campus TIDES program. TIDES stands for Teaching Independence, Empowerment and Determination Skills. These selected students have been engaging in art classes and will be bringing their work skills and social skills to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to participate in campus jobs. Thank you for all you do for our program Laura and Tina!

Volunteering has begun! 🙌Here are some pictures of our students contributing to Special Hearts in the Arts and the local Food Bank. Stay tuned for more volunteer news from our campus. Way to go students!

Volunteerism is the heart of Mary Grett. Several students volunteered their time to help Mrs. Alexander un-box, sort and organize hundreds of school supplies. Way to go students!🙌

Students from the TIDES program had the opportunity to use B-line transportation to visit the Garcia Art Center where they engaged in a step-by-step workshop on painting a birdhouse using acrylics on canvas. This activity provided both artistic education and practical skills in community navigation.

We love partnering with the community to prepare our students for the workforce! Mrs. De La Garza and Mr. Tijerina from the Public Health District gave an interactive presentation for our students to become food-handler certified ☑️
Ask your students when they get home about what they learned from the presentation!🧼🤲
